The musculoskeletal system – bones, joints, ligaments and muscles – is an essential part of the body that provides freedom of movement. Baltic American Clinic provides professional rheumatology services designed to diagnose and treat many musculoskeletal disorders.
Our reception desk is open 24 hours a day. A clinic staff member will contact you the day before your scheduled appointment to inform you of the exact arrival time. Scheduled patient appointments at the clinic take place on weekdays from 8 am to 9 pm.
When should you see a rheumatologist?
It is worth seeing a rheumatologist if you experience or notice:
- Joint pain, stiffness or swelling, especially in the mornings
- Back pain, especially if it does not improve with rest
- General weakness, fatigue or a persistent low-grade fever
- Muscle pain or weakness
- Symmetrical symptoms (affecting joints on both sides of the body)
- Dryness of the eyes, mouth or other mucous membranes
- Loss of height or spinal deformities
- Skin rashes or other skin changes
Early diagnosis of rheumatic diseases allows for effective treatment, halting their progression, preserving joint function and preventing irreversible joint damage.
Rheumatology services
Rheumatology consultation
An in-depth consultation with a rheumatologist, during which the patient’s symptoms are discussed, a physical examination is carried out, previous test results are reviewed and a diagnosis is established. During the consultation, the doctor creates a personalised treatment plan and provides relevant recommendations.
Diagnostic procedures
Modern diagnostic procedures are performed at the Baltic American Clinic:
- Joint ultrasound – a non-invasive ultrasound scan that allows the assessment of joint structures, inflammatory activity and early detection of changes
- Diagnostic joint aspiration – a procedure in which synovial fluid is collected from the joint for laboratory analysis
- Therapeutic joint aspiration – a procedure during which excess fluid is removed and medication is injected into the joint
Conditions diagnosed and treated
At our clinic, rheumatologists diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions:
- Inflammatory joint diseases – rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis
- Systemic connective tissue diseases – systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis, vasculitis, myositis
- Degenerative joint diseases – osteoarthritis, spinal osteochondrosis, spondylosis
