1987 Co-awarded the National Prize for achievements in microsurgery in Lithuania.
2000 Awarded the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas (5th Class) for services to Lithuania in the field of medicine.
2006 awarded the Virchow Medal for contributions to medical theory and practice, European Academy of Natural Sciences, Germany.
The article “Reconstructive Microsurgery” in the journal was included in the World List of Microsurgical Autotransplants. Lithuania and the authors’ names were mentioned in the landmark 40th anniversary of world microsurgery paper by H. Buncke, “Forty Years of Microsurgery: What’s Next?” (“The Journal of Hand Surgery”). They were the first in the world to perform free transfers of the described flap.
