Good blood circulation is vital for the smooth functioning of the human body. At “Baltijos Amerikos klinika”, we offer a range of diagnostic and treatment options for vascular diseases.

Vascular surgeon consultations
Consultation with a vascular surgeon
An in-depth consultation with a qualified vascular surgeon – a specialist medical practitioner who looks after the health of arteries and veins. During the consultation, your health status, risk factors and current symptoms are discussed, and an individualised investigation and treatment plan is formulated.
Investigations performed at the Vascular Surgery Centre
Venous ultrasound scan of the legs
A non-invasive investigation in which ultrasound is used to assess the condition of superficial and deep leg veins and blood flow. It is most commonly performed when varicose veins or deep vein thrombosis (DVT) are suspected. It helps to accurately assess venous valve function and the direction of blood flow.
Neck vessel duplex scan
An ultrasound scan evaluating the patency and wall condition of the carotid arteries and other blood vessels in the neck. Used to assess the risk of stroke or vascular insufficiency. A duplex scan allows both the visualisation of vessel structure and measurement of blood flow velocity.
Leg arterial ultrasound scan
During the investigation, the condition of the leg arteries and any potential narrowing or blockages are assessed. Performed to diagnose peripheral arterial disease. Helps to plan further treatment or surgical intervention.
Arm arterial ultrasound scan
A non-invasive investigation that checks the condition of the arm arteries and evaluates the quality of blood flow. It can be used to diagnose circulatory disorders or in preparation for vascular procedures.
Abdominal and pelvic vascular ultrasound scan
Performed to evaluate the condition of the aorta, renal, iliac and other pelvic blood vessels. Frequently used to diagnose aneurysms or atherosclerotic changes. The investigation helps to identify dangerous changes in time and prevent complications.
Procedures performed at the Vascular Surgery Centre
Vein sclerotherapy
A non-surgical treatment method where a substance is injected into enlarged superficial veins, causing the vein walls to stick together and close off. The procedure is quick and usually does not require pain relief. Suitable for treating small or medium-sized superficial veins.
Conservative treatment of deep vein inflammation
Used in cases of phlebitis (inflammation of veins) or thrombosis. Treatment involves medications (anticoagulants, anti-inflammatory drugs), compression therapy and restriction of physical activity. The aim is to relieve inflammation and prevent complications.
Conservative treatment of superficial veins
Includes venotonics (medications that increase venous wall tone), compression stockings, lifestyle changes and prevention. Suitable for early stages of varicose veins. Helps to reduce symptoms and slow down disease progression.
Laser vein treatment (endovenous laser ablation)
A minimally invasive procedure during which a laser beam is used to “seal” the affected vein. Performed under local anaesthetic, sparing surrounding tissue. The patient is usually discharged home on the same day.
Operations performed at the Vascular Surgery Centre
Phlebectomy
A surgical operation in which larger, affected superficial veins are removed – most commonly the great or small saphenous vein of the leg. Performed in cases of advanced varicose veins. It can be used in combination with other treatment methods.
Varicectomy
Surgery to remove individual varicose veins. Using special instruments, enlarged veins are removed through small incisions or punctures. The procedure effectively reduces varicose vein symptoms and improves cosmetic appearance.
Miniphlebectomy
A minimally invasive operation in which small superficial varicose veins are removed through very small incisions. Often performed under local anaesthetic and requires no stitches. The procedure leaves almost no scars and ensures rapid healing.
Leg arterial bypass surgery
A complex vascular operation where a blocked or narrowed segment of an artery is bypassed by inserting a pathway for blood flow (a bypass/graft). A fragment of the patient’s own blood vessel or a synthetic prosthesis may be used. The aim is to restore blood circulation and prevent tissue necrosis.
Do not forget to look after your vascular health
Healthy veins and arteries mean not only lighter legs, but also better overall well-being. Timely vascular investigations help:
- Detect changes early and reduce the risk of serious complications
- Prescribe the most appropriate treatment before symptoms worsen
- Preserve freedom of movement and quality of life
- Avoid emergency surgery or long-term treatment
