Psychiatry and psychotherapy

Mental health is an integral part of overall quality of life, having a decisive impact on interpersonal relationships and daily activities. The highly qualified specialists working at the Baltic American Clinic will help you gain a clearer understanding of your psychological processes and behavioural motivations. All mental health disorders and some physical (somatic) illnesses are treated using medication and psychotherapy.

Our admissions department is open 24 hours a day. A member of the clinic staff will contact you the day before your scheduled appointment to inform you of your exact arrival time. Scheduled patient admissions at the clinic take place on weekdays from 08:00 to 21:00.

When should you see a psychiatrist or psychotherapist?

Professional support is recommended if you notice any of the following symptoms:

  • Persistent low mood or sadness
  • Constant anxiety or panic attacks
  • Intrusive thoughts or repetitive behaviours that are difficult to control
  • Insomnia, oversleeping, or disturbed dreams
  • Social isolation or avoiding contact with others
  • Unexplained changes in appetite (increase or decrease)
  • Difficulties in relationships with loved ones or colleagues
  • Addictions (alcohol, drugs, gambling)
  • Bedwetting (nocturnal enuresis)
  • Physical symptoms with no clear medical cause

Timely professional support helps prevent complications, stops conditions from becoming chronic, and avoids a prolonged recovery process.

Psychiatry and psychotherapy services

Psychiatric consultation

During a psychiatric consultation, a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s mental health is conducted, mental health disorders are diagnosed, and medical treatment is prescribed if necessary. A psychiatrist can diagnose conditions such as depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. During your visit, you will discuss not only how you feel, your thoughts, and your behaviour, but also physical symptoms, sleep quality, energy levels, and other key aspects of your general health.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is a confidential conversation with a professional specialist who does not judge or criticise, but helps you understand the underlying causes of your distress and find the most optimal way to resolve it. Over time, the therapeutic relationship built during regular sessions forms the foundation for fundamental changes—learning to manage emotions more effectively, improve relationships with loved ones, boost self-esteem, and overcome anxiety, depression, or other issues that limit your life. High-quality psychotherapy is beneficial both during an acute crisis and for personal growth, finding inner harmony, and building a meaningful life.
