In some cases hearing improves once an earwax plug is removed or the fluid in the middle ear clears. In other cases the hearing loss may be long-term. A sudden loss of hearing must be assessed urgently.

            </details>
            <details>

Can I remove an earwax plug myself with a cotton bud?

This is not recommended. Cotton buds can push the wax deeper or damage the ear canal and eardrum. If your ear feels blocked, it is safer to see a doctor.

            </details>
            <details>

Does ringing in the ears mean hearing loss?

Not necessarily. Ringing in the ears can occur both with and without hearing loss. A doctor’s consultation and hearing tests may be needed to find the cause.

            </details>
            <details>

Are hearing tests done for children and newborns?

Yes. Baltic American Clinic performs hearing tests for children, including otoacoustic emission testing for newborns. The tests are chosen according to age and the clinical situation.

            </details>
            <details>

Can hearing loss affect only one ear?

Yes. Hearing loss can be one-sided or affect both ears. If you suddenly start hearing less well in one ear, you need to see a doctor urgently.

            </details>
            <details>

Can hearing loss be linked to dizziness?

Yes.
